The first 25 pages of this book give a brief history of the “Old Third Iowa” Infantry, which was formed in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1859, until its arrival in France in 1918. The 168th Infantry was originally made up of the First, Second and Third Iowa National Guard Infantry units – The Rainbow Division. This book lists the men killed in action; it has excellent pictures of most but not all the men. It tells where they were buried and how they were killed. It gives the name of their parents or relative and their address. The entire book can be viewed here. For help finding names or to obtain copies of pages, visit the Frontier Heritage Library or email the PCGS.
